Mark and I ran over to Ballard to check out some bikes tonight. They were at a thing called backfiremoto, and it ended up being quite cool. I snapped a few grainy shots, chewed on a dollar hotdog, and met a few new people.

iPhone photo project

Over the last month, I’ve made a point of limiting my photos to what I could generate from my iPhone. It’s better than a pinhole camera, and with a little practice, I was starting to get the hang of how to pull off reasonable shots. To really take advantage of the platform, I tried to post many of them on Facebook from the phone.

I’ve owned a number of good boots for riding. Most have those sweet spots where they shine, and are limited in other ways. The Combat lites are flat out great in so many ways, I seldom even consider any of my other boots.

Part of what I love about photography is using the tools. They can be incredibly simple like a pinhole camera, or have a level of workmanship like a fine swiss watch (which I also love). I still use film, but far less often due to the quality and overall lower cost of using digital.

This was my third car and was a total hoot. It was beat up, but did have a targa roof which was a cool new experience for me. While I had it, I updated the engine with a 2 liter kit... Sadly, I never got to enjoy it.

I have a classic Chevrolet pickup that may be one of the best standard utility vehicles made. It's a 1/2 ton 2wd long bed model. It still has the original red paint that's almost pink at this point.

My 69 Camaro is a pretty basic SS350 version. It's a classic looking 69 that I've been a fan of since I was a little kid. My best friends first car was a green 69 that was a big influence for my choice of this car.

Trek Y-22 Notes

The Trek Y-22 was my first suspension bike and I learned quite a bit more about suspension while playing with this bike. I still get a kick out of it's carbon frame, but I have found it's ride to be a bit bouncy. Suspension bikes have got much better since this design. I also found that I really don't appreciate full suspension bikes as much as a well built hard tail.
