XB12X Tool kit

I was trying to describe why I was comfortable with working on the bike while on the road. It’s pretty easy to have a tool kit in a set of saddle bags, it takes a bit more planning to fit it on the bike when running without luggage. I almost always have a tank bag, and have a little in there. Since my bike has great storage under the seat, I took advantage of it.

I have a Buell under seat bag that I modified to be dedicated to tools. I pulled out the stuff on the bottom side and then cut some high density foam to fit:

I left the top mesh alone and use it to hold some papers, and a couple more items:

I tried to cut the foam to hold the tools, but not overwhelm the bag:

I have a mix of tool brands, but pulled much of it from a Seattle Tool 1/4” drive set:

  • axle adapter
  • 5mm hex wrench
  • T27 wrench
  • 8mm socket that fits in screw driver bit
  • combo wrench - three sizes, one is for the axle adapter - it’s bent from one use. My crescent wrench replaces it
